  • Free time - Procedure

Some itineraries offer time for students to explore the city and surrounding areas with fellow travelers but not always with their Group Leader(s) or Tour Director. Your Tour Director knows the area well and can recommend local favorites and activities. This is a great time to incorporate visits or discussions that relate directly to your curriculum. Your Group Leader might arrange an academic or educational visit, or you can check out a museum, sit at a cafe to people-watch, souvenir shop, take photos, listen to local music—the choices are endless. Travelers should check in with their Group Leader with any specific questions about free time during their program.

Due to traveling with a large number of students, it is not always possible for students to be in direct sight and supervision of their Group Leader(s) or Tour Director, in fact, there will be times when students are given the opportunity to explore the city and surrounding areas on their own after the Tour Director has given directions, provisions, and important corresponding information. Students are required to always travel in groups of four or more while engaging in "free time."

There will be Informational Sessions that the Group Leader will host either "in-person" and/or via Teams, where students and all program participants will have the opportunity to meet and get to know one another prior to program departure.

  • Personal Communications Responsibility - Procedure

Traveling abroad is exciting and fun. In today's world there is a need to stay connected. All participants or "units" (you and/or the person you are traveling with), are responsible for securing a mobile international data plan. It should not be assumed that Wi-Fi will be readily and/or easily accessible. Check with your cellular phone provider to see what option is best for you. Having an international data plan can keep you and your loved ones at home connected. *You may want to explore and research the option of purchasing an international SIM card (which can be more cost effective), however, it is recommended that you secure an international data plan from one of the major cellular carriers.

It is highly recommended that your mobile international data plan include talk, text, and a generous data allowance. The Group Leader will create a channel (chat area) on a group messaging platform that all program participants will be required to join prior to departure. This chat will be used to communicate announcements, meeting times/locations, and any pertinent information while traveling. It will be a way for students and attendees to always have access to their Group Leader(s).

While there will always be centralized information given from the Tour Director and/or Group Leader prior to program excursions and activities, if you neglect to obtain a viable method of constant and active "connectivity" while traveling, you take full responsibility and all associated outcomes therewith, of any missed: announcements, meeting times/locations, changes, and any pertinent information while traveling.
